Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer performs all functions of production support, quality control, and continuously improving manufacturing process by applying lean manufacturing philosophy.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Works with design and product engineers to ensure all products and system requirements are considered from the initial product release to the final production release. Designs assembly methods and procedures for new products.
  2. Develops and drive implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve safety, production rates, and quality of output.
  3. Optimizes manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow with time study, space requirements, and equipment layout, minimizing work motion, and eliminating production waste.
  4. Provides engineering knowledge and technical problem-solving skill to resolve any daily production issues.
  5. Implements and maintains process engineering instructions and standardized work instructions, including time study for all manufacturing processes.
  6. Develops and design tooling, equipment, and production lines as needed for any production requirements.
  7. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; establishes PM to improve equipment reliability.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  1. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  2. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  3. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

 

Education and/or Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering and 1 to 3 years of related work experience is preferable.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be required to continuously sit, talk, keyboard, and frequently walk. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds maximum. The common frequent weight is 5-10 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this job include close distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
